learnwithme

Code of conduct

learnwithme is built around a simple idea: people teach what they know, and people learn from each other—often across different skills, backgrounds, and goals. Everyone using our spaces, now or in the future, should feel safe, respected, and able to focus on learning and teaching.

This code applies to everyone: people offering programs, people following them, and anyone participating in official learnwithme channels—for example the product itself, community spaces we run, social accounts we operate, support inboxes, and open-source or discussion venues tied to this project.

What we encourage

Be kind and patient

Teaching and learning can feel vulnerable. Assume good intent, especially in text, where tone is easy to misread.

Respect boundaries

People set their own comfort level with feedback, DMs, and how personal they get. Honor that.

Welcome newcomers

Short, clear explanations beat gatekeeping jargon.

Give constructive feedback

When someone asks for it, keep feedback specific, actionable, and about the work—not personal attacks.

Credit and uplift others

When you share ideas, methods, or resources that came from somewhere else, say so and pass credit along.

Remember the member model

The same people may teach in one context and learn in another. Treat everyone as a full participant who might be on either side tomorrow.

Unacceptable behavior

The following are not allowed in learnwithme-related spaces:

Harassment, bullying, or intimidation

Including repeated unwanted contact, pile-ons, threats, or stalking.

Discrimination or hate

Directed at people based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, age, body size, or any similar characteristic.

Sexual harassment

Including unwelcome sexual attention—comments, imagery, or behavior of a sexual nature that makes others uncomfortable.

Doxxing or privacy violations

Sharing private information about someone without consent.

Disruptive or deceptive conduct

Spam, scams, impersonation of staff or other members, or coordinated disruption of programs or community spaces.

Unsafe or illegal instructions when teaching

For example, content that could clearly harm health or safety if followed. We expect teachers to present skills responsibly; we may remove content or accounts that cross that line.

This list is not exhaustive. We may act on other behavior that seriously harms the community or the purpose of the platform.

Teaching and learning content

Accuracy and care

If you teach, be honest about your experience level and limits. Do not present risky activities as safe without appropriate context and warnings where they matter—for example fitness, tools, or materials.

Inclusivity in how you teach

Avoid language that demeans groups of people. Use inclusive examples where you can so more people see themselves in your material.

Feedback on lessons

Critique the lesson, not the person’s identity. “This part was unclear” helps; insults do not.

Reporting and enforcement

If you need to report something

  1. Contact us at the official support or safety channel we publish for learnwithme—for example a dedicated email or in-product report link. If that channel is not yet listed in the README, use the maintainer’s published contact path.
  2. Include what happened, when and where (link or screenshot if helpful), and whether you need confidentiality. We take safety reports seriously.

How maintainers may respond

  • Warning the person involved
  • Removing content
  • Temporarily or permanently restricting access to learnwithme spaces
  • Involving hosts or authorities when required by law or serious risk

We will prioritize the safety and dignity of people who were harmed, and we will not retaliate against good-faith reports.

Scope and evolution

This code applies wherever learnwithme officially operates. It does not control what people say on their own channels outside our product—but behavior that spills from our spaces into targeted harassment of our members may still be addressed if it affects community safety here.

We may update this document as the product grows. Significant changes will be noted with a date at the bottom when we maintain one.

Attribution and inspiration

This code of conduct is written for learnwithme and draws on common community standards, including ideas similar to the Contributor Covenant and widely used practices for respectful online learning and creator communities.

We want learnwithme to be a place where teaching and learning feel welcoming, serious about safety, and worth people’s time. Thank you for helping uphold that.
